massive new YouGov poll has shown the Liberal Democrats are just 3 per cent behind the Conservatives in Brecon, Radnor and Cwm Tawe in news likely to worry the Conservative Party.

The results of the 53,334-person mega poll show the Conservatives slumping to 31 per cent of the vote, with the Liberal Democrat David Chadwick snapping on their heels with 28% of the vote. Labour is in a distant third place at 18% and Plaid Cymru at just 11% per cent.

The Liberal Democrats have argued that the results show yet again they are the primary challengers to the Conservatives in the seat and have called for Labour, Plaid and Green voters; alongside Conservative voters who are fed up with the constant sleaze and scandal to get behind candidate David Chadwick to deliver a fresh start for the constituency.

The poll also shows the Liberal Democrats becoming a major force in British politics again, with predictions of the Party winning at least 48 seats across the UK.

The constituency has swapped between the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives for the last 40 years with the Liberal Democrats coming in second at the last election.

Commenting on the results of the poll, Liberal Democrat Candidate David Chadwick said:

“This poll is yet more evidence we are the challengers to the Conservatives in this seat.

“A vote for Labour or Plaid Cymru here is a vote to let the Conservatives back in.

“I know from speaking to people across the constituency for the last two years that people are fed up with the constant sleaze, scandal and economic chaos under the Conservatives and the last thing they want is to wake up on July 5th and have a Conservative MP.

“I am reaching out to voters from Labour and Plaid and Conservative voters who are just fed up with what their party has become to get behind my campaign so we can have a strong voice in parliament again, who actually stands up for the interests of our communities.

“We are only 3% behind the Conservatives, but I will be working hard every single day speaking to as many voters as I can to ask them to put their trust in me.”
