ITV Wales Declares Brecon, Radnor & Cwm Tawe “Too Close to Call”
ITV Wales has declared the seat of Brecon, Radnor & Cwm Tawe as “too close to call” between the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats following an exclusive Welsh poll.
The report coincides with a previous mega poll by YouGov which shows the Lib Dems trailing the Conservatives in the constituency by just 3%.
ITV Wales analysis states that “the seat of Brecon, Radnor and Cwm Tawe remains undecided, split between the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives” and that “it is no surprise the seat is projected to be too close to call, as the Brecon and Radnorshire seat has historically flip-flopped between the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats”.
The Liberal Democrats have argued that the results of recent polls and the ITV Wales analysis show that they are the primary challengers to the Conservatives in the seat and have called for Labour, Plaid and Green voters; alongside Conservative voters who are fed up with the constant sleaze and scandal to get behind candidate David Chadwick to deliver a fresh start for the constituency.
Commenting, Liberal Democrat Candidate for Brecon, Radnor and Cwm Tawe David Chadwick said:
“Poll after poll is showing we are the challengers to the Conservatives in this seat.
“A vote for Labour or Plaid Cymru in Brecon, Radnor and Cwm Tawe is a vote to let the Conservatives back in.
“I know from speaking to people across the constituency for the last two years that people are fed up with the constant sleaze, scandal and economic chaos under the Conservatives and the last thing they want is to wake up on July 5th and have a Conservative MP.
“I am reaching out to voters from Labour and Plaid and Conservative voters who are just fed up with what their party has become to get behind my campaign so we can have a strong voice in parliament again, who actually stands up for the interests of our communities.
“We are only 3 per cent behind the Conservatives, but I will be working hard every single day speaking to as many voters as I can to ask them to put their trust in me.”
